Eimskip increased its Trans-Atlantic service for exporters of fresh commodities from the Faroe Islands and Iceland to the United States and Canada. Eimskip adjusted its sailing system to meet customers’ greater demand for shorter transit time, more environmentally friendly transportation, and fresher and more valuable products.

A new Board of Directors was elected at the AGM. For the first time women make up the majority of Eimskip's Board of Directors.
Eimskip took steps in energy exchange in trucking operations in Iceland by investing in two electric trucks.
March
Eimskip and the Icelandic Competition Authority reached a settlement in a competition case that had been under investigation for the past years, where the main period of investigation was 2008 to 2013.
June
A major milestone was reached when the electrification of the gantry cranes Stormur and Grettir in Sundahöfn was completed. Now all Eimskip cranes in the port area of Reykjavík use electricity instead of fossil fuels.
María Björk Einarsdóttir was appointed as CFO of Eimskip.

Eimskip took a great step towards betters service when the Company began implementing Trip Link, a monitoring system on new reefer container units. The new system allows for remote monitoring, location security of both containers and cargo.
August
A formal naming ceremony was held in Faroe Island for Eimskip´s newest vessel Brúarfoss. The vessel´s godmother is Eva Rein who had just celebrated her 50th anniversary as an employee at Faroe Ship.
September
A milestone was reached in energy exchange at Sundahöfn when Eimskip entered into an agreement for the design and construction of equipment for electric land connection of ships in Sundahöfn. The Company continues to take steps towards using green energy in the operation with investments in e.g., electric harbor cranes and more environmentally friendly reach stackers, trucks and cars.
Böðvar Örn Kristinsson was appointed interim Executive Vice President of Iceland Domestic Operations.

Faster access to information for customers by using the fully web based freight forwarding platform (TMFF) launched for our offices in Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Denmark and Greenland.
November
Several carbon offset projects were conducted in 2021 e.g. all shipments of personal effects to and from Iceland for the year.

Eimskip publishes financial results for 2021 showing record results in all business areas for the year.
